Clinically Pressed

The goal of this project was to collaborate in a team of four to combine user experience (UX), user interface (UI) and front-end (FE) development skills. We partnered with Clinically Pressed, a health and wellness platform, to redesign and modernize their website. The existing site was hosted on Wix, and we utilized Wix, Wix Editor and Wix Velo to create a more intuitive, responsive, and engaging user experience.

To achieve this goal, focus was applied to:

  • UI Analysis & User Research: Evaluating the existing site and identifying user pain points and opportunities for improvement.

  • Information Architecture: Reorganizing content to create clearer navigation and a more logical flow.

  • Low- & Mid-Fidelity Wireframing & Testing: Developing and testing design concepts to validate structure and usability.

  • High-Fidelity Prototyping & Style Guide: Building a cohesive, accessible visual system aligned with the brand’s identity.

  • Interactive Design: Enhancing engagement through motion, responsiveness and intuitive interactions.

Mission Statement

We are here to help.  We want to help everyone understand what is out there in the worth of health, nutrition, wellness and performance.

Proto-Persona

We hypothesized that two primary user groups would engage with the Clinically Pressed website:

  1. Health-conscious individuals looking to improve their well-being but unsure where to start. This group seeks accessible, trustworthy health information and practical guidance to begin their wellness journey.

  2. Healthcare professionals and practitioners seeking reliable clinical resources and opportunities to support local initiatives, such as funding emergency care items for schools or community programs.

Understanding these two distinct audiences guided our design decisions, ensuring the new site supports both personal wellness exploration and professional collaboration within the healthcare community.

Based on insights from our stakeholder interview, user testing and survey results, we identified two primary demographics to focus on. Our design goals centered around accessibility for everyday individuals seeking to improve their health and well-being and education and support for healthcare providers looking to share expertise and give back to their communities. This dual focus helped shape a balanced design that connects both audiences through approachable content, clear navigation and meaningful engagement opportunities.

Heuristic Evaluation

During our site evaluation, we identified several key usability and design issues impacting the overall user experience:

  • The site structure was disorganized, making information difficult to locate.

  • Information overload contributed to user confusion and cognitive fatigue.

  • The header was cluttered, and the navigation bar contained too many tabs, reducing clarity.

  • Font styles and sizes were inconsistent, affecting readability and visual hierarchy.

  • Several links were broken or non-functional, disrupting navigation and user trust.

These findings highlighted the need for a more streamlined, consistent, and accessible design approach to improve usability and engagement.

User Research

Our research focused on understanding user behavior, needs, and navigation patterns within the existing Clinically Pressed website. To guide our redesign, we:

  • Surveyed a wide range of users to learn about their habits, goals, and challenges when accessing health-related information.

  • Conducted usability tests on the current site to identify pain points and barriers to engagement.

  • Prioritized key features based on user feedback and usability findings.

  • Developed a user persona to represent the primary audience and inform design decisions throughout the project.

This process provided a strong foundation for creating a more intuitive, user-centered website experience.

Organization

To improve usability and user retention, our focus was on simplifying the site structure and creating a more intuitive navigation experience. Key steps included:

  • Developing a new site map to organize content logically and reduce redundancy.

  • Creating a task flow to visualize user journeys and identify friction points.

  • Conducting an open card sorting test to validate content grouping and ensure the structure aligned with user expectations.

These steps helped establish a clear, user-centered foundation for the redesigned Clinically Pressed website.

Visual Identity

We focused on overhauling the aesthetics of the Clinically Pressed brand and website to create a more cohesive, professional, and approachable visual identity. Key initiatives included:

  • Updating the color palette and typography to establish consistency and improve readability.

  • Designing a new, modernized logo that reflects the organization’s mission and values.

  • Ensuring accessibility compliance by meeting contrast, legibility, and usability standards across all digital touchpoints.

These updates strengthened brand recognition while enhancing the overall user experience through clarity, inclusivity, and visual balance.

Conclusion & Future Plans

This project was less of a redesign and more of a complete reinvention of the Clinically Pressed website and brand experience. The goal was to transform the site into a more functional, accessible and engaging platform for both health-conscious users and healthcare professionals.

Future Plans:

  • Implement a dual filtering system for podcasts to improve content discoverability.

  • Add episode notes to individual podcast pages for easier reference and context.

  • Integrate a functional “Donate” button using DonorBox to streamline contributions.

  • Develop an online store and expanded About pages to strengthen brand storytelling.

  • Build a Continuing Education platform to support professional growth and community engagement.
